About ‘ Introduction to Ecotoxicology & The Environment’ webinar

With concerns over climate change and pollution, this is a timely training course which will introduce you to the basic principles of ecotoxicology & environmental fate.

It is a perfect introductory course for anyone who wants to learn more about ecotoxicology and environmental fate for Safety Data Sheet purposes, registration work and classification & labelling in accordance with CLP/GHS.

The webinar will cover,

  • The key points and concepts of ecotoxicology and the environment.
  • What is meant by aquatic ecotoxicology and why it is used in CLP/GHS.
  • What is meant by trophic levels, its significance and the test species that are commonly used.
  • The difference between acute and chronic effects, LC50, EC50, NOEC & LOEC.
  • Assessment of short term and long term aquatic effects.
  • Aquatic, terrestrial, vertebrate and invertebrate toxicity, and the significance of indirect exposure to humans via the environment.
  • Why it is important to assess the potential for a substance to degrade within the environment and the terms persistence, degradation, biotic and abiotic degradation, aerobic/anaerobic degradation & rapid degradation.
  • PBT & vPvB, what these mean and their significance.
  • The importance of environmental exposure assessment (including predicted effect concentration, PEC) and how it links to environmental risk assessment.
