Caroline Raine is a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) for the transport of hazardous goods by road and rail. Caroline is the current Chairman of the British Association of Dangerous Goods Professionals (BADGP) and was one of the founding committee members. She is a presenter on the Classification for Transport Module presented by the CHCS.


What you will learn

This ‘Transport Classification for Safety Data Sheets’ webinar has been developed to guide you through the transport regulations, enabling you to understand the classification and identification information which is required in Section 14 of the Safety Data Sheet.

The webinar will start with a brief introduction into the transport regulations and the different modes of transport namely; ADR road, RID rail, IMDG sea & IATA air, briefly touching on ADN inland waterways.

The classification criteria will be explained, and we will then look specifically at the criteria Classes 3, 8 and environmentally hazardous substances (marine pollutants) of Class 9.

Touching briefly on high consequence dangerous goods (HCDG) and the rules of precedence we will finish by explaining how to choose your proper shipping names and UN numbers.

This course is particularly useful for those of you who are involved in writing or receiving safety data sheets (SDS) as it will equip you with the necessary knowledge to complete the Safety Data Sheet information requirements of Section 14 – Transport Information.
