‘We wanted the whole team to have an understanding of Safety Data Sheets. Laura delivered an interactive course with some great written material and was always very helpful and approachable with any follow up questions. Laura is an expert in her field and we would be delighted to work with her again.” A.G, Pepsico, Ireland, 2022.
Small group sizes and live discussions
To ensure an optimal learning experience, the class is limited to a small number of participants, allowing for live discussions and interaction with the trainer.
I encourage all participants to use a headset/microphone to facilitate easy communication with both the trainer and other attendees.
Session One (2 hours)
Session one provides an overview of SDS requirements and responsibilities. This session then provides an in-depth look at the individual requirements for Sections 1 to 6 respectively, including where to find useful data. Where relevant, the updates to Annex II (EC 2020/878) are included.
During the session, a review of relevant SDS and group exercises will be used to help reinforce the learning.
Session Two ( 2 hours)
Session Two focuses on the three ‘key’ sections of the SDS. That is Section 9 -Physical and Chemical Properties, Section 11 – Toxicological Information and Section 12 -Ecological Information.
This includes a definition of the terminology, its significance and importantly, how to interpret and apply this data to other sections of the SDS. Where relevant, the updates to Annex II (EC 2020/878) are also included.
During the session, a review of relevant SDS and group exercises will be used to help reinforce the learning.
Session Three (2 hours)
Session three continues with an in-depth look at the individual requirements of Sections 7, 8,10 and 13 to 16 respectively. It concludes with a useful approach that can be used when authoring a Safety Data Sheet, and tips which can be used to help improve its overall consistency and usefulness.
During the session, a review of relevant SDS and group exercises will be used to help reinforce the learning.
The course is aimed at those who need to know how to write or evaluate safety data sheets (SDS), for both substances and mixtures.
It is an excellent introductory course and also a refresher course. It also provides information on how to implement the new updates to Annex II to REACH Regulation (EU) 2020/878.
